Arriving to Whittier
If you will be living on campus, you should plan to arrive on August 31 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Upon arrival, go to the Office of International Programs in Platner 204 to check in and pick up your room key. If you arrive after 5 p.m., you can pick up your room key from Campus Safety.
An optional walking tour of Whittier will start at 5:15 p.m. Dinner will be provided as part of this tour.
Early Arrivals. If you plan to arrive in Los Angeles prior to the start of Orientation, you will need to arrange for your own accommodations. Your residence hall room will not be available earlier than August 31. Click here for information about local hotels.
Arriving by Air. Super Shuttle is a shared ride/van and is provided at all major Los Angeles airports. Super Shuttle can pick you up at your airport terminal and drop you off at the College. Reservations for Super Shuttle can be made online at www.supershuttle.com or you can purchase a ticket right at the airport. The fare to Whittier from Los Angeles International Airport is approximately $45 (it is customary to tip the driver about 10% - 15%). Credit cards are also accepted.
Shuttle2Lax is another reliable and relatively inexpensive option that costs about $20 one way. Reservations can be made online at shuttletolax.com.
Taxis are also available, but can be much more expensive than a shuttle service. If you choose to take a taxi, we recommend that you share it with another student.
If you are NOT living in the residence halls, you are still encouraged to check-in on August 31 and join the optional Whittier tour leaving campus at 5:15 p.m. Otherwise, the mandatory portion of the Orientation begins at 8:30 a.m. on September 1.
