Boone Isaacs '71 Re-elected President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

Cheryl Boone Isaacs, Whittier College Alumna, Ampas, OscarsFilm marketing executive Cheryl Boone Isaacs '71 has been re-elected as the President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Ampas) for a third term. For the past two years, she has worked to help diversify the Academy, the world's preeminent movie related organization, comprised of more than 7,000 men and women working in cinema. 

Boone Isaacs currently heads CBI Enterprises, Inc., where she consults on film marketing efforts. She visited Whittier last fall where she shared real life advice with students in an open forum at the Ruth B. Shannon Center for the Performing Arts.

The Academy Awards or Oscars have been around since the first Academy Awards ceremony in 1929. The trophy depicts a knight holding a sword and standing on a film reel with five spokes, each representing one of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ five original branches: actors, directors, producers, technicians and writers.
