For the first time ever, Whittier College is participating in Giving Tuesday – a national day of giving back dedicated to inspiring millions of people to celebrate generosity and support a cause that they care about.

On December 2, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, G.O.L.D. alumni (Graduates of the Last Decade 2004-2015) are being asked to give back by participating in the Giving Tuesday Challenge with a gift of any amount to any designation. If at least 200 G.O.L.D. alumni make a gift of $5 or more on December 2, members of the Whittier College Board of Trustees will contribute an additional $50,000 for student scholarships.

“This is our chance to unite and leave a mark,” said alumna Ley Ung ‘12. “Four out of five students at Whittier rely on scholarship assistance, and the goal of our campaign is to provide even more scholarships. We are just starting our lives as young alumni, and many of us are looking for the right way to give back to a school that has meant so much to us. This is our opportunity to make a big difference with a small gift that equals the cost of one latte. We can do this! Let’s unite and unlock this scholarship money!”

How to Participate in the Giving Tuesday Challenge

It’s as easy as one-two-three. To make your $5 gift and help unlock $50,000 in new scholarships funds, please go to www.whittier.edu/GivingTuesday. Gifts can be made online or by calling (562) 907-4209.

The Giving Tuesday campaign will harness the power of peer-to-peer outreach and digital technology to spread the word. Everyone in the Poet family is encouraged to challenge former classmates, teammates, friends, and society brothers and sisters to participate with a gift to the Whittier Fund. All gifts to Whittier College benefit students.
