Sociology Track

To complete the Sociology track, a student must complete a minimum of 35 credits:

Program Core

  • ANTH/SOC180: Applied Community Development Workshop, 3 credits
  • One 200-level introductory Sociology course, 3 credits
  • SOC214/SOC214L: Statistics, 4 credits
  • ANTH250: Understanding Cultures, 3 credits
  • SOC300: The Sociological Imagination, 3 credits
  • SOC302: Social Theory, 4 credits

Methods

Choose one of the following:

  • SOC 310: Approaches to Social Research, 4 credits
  • ANTH 311: Field Research: Crossing Cultural Boundaries, 3 credits
  • ANTH 312: Ethnographic Methods, 3 credits

Upper Division Anthropology/Sociology Topics Courses

Choose one Sociology 300-level course (3 credits) and One Anthropology 300-level course (3 credits), excluding program core and methods requirements.

Senior Seminar

  • SOC 407: Senior Seminar A, 3 credits
  • SOC 408: Senior Seminar B, 3 credits

Anthropology/Sociology Minor

To complete the minor, a student must complete a total of 18 credits, which include the following:

  • ANTH/SOC 180: Applied Community Development Workshop, 3 credits
  • One intermediate course: ANTH 250 OR SOC 300, 3 credits
  • One Methods OR one Theory course: ANTH 311, ANTH 312, SOC 310 OR ANTH 310, SOC 302, 3 or 4 credits
  • Nine credits in other ANTH or SOC topics courses, (one 200-level and two 300-level), 9 credits
