Transfer Student Checklist

Before Registering

  • Complete Forms on Moodle. On Moodle, you will find all the important – and necessary – forms to complete as a Whittier College student. For log-in help or answers to questions about these forms, call the Advising Resource Center at 562.907.4816. Please see the ‘Forms on Moodle’ section below for a full list of documents to complete, as well as deadlines.
  • Schedule an advising appointment. Call the Center for Advising and Resource Center (CAAS) at 562.907.4816 to schedule an advising appointment. You may come to the Whittier College to meet with your faculty advisor or set up a phone advising appointment.
  • Transcripts. You will not be permitted to register in courses that have pre-requisites that are unaccounted for - this includes classes required for your major. Be sure to verify that all completed transcripts have been sent to Whittier College prior to scheduling your registration appointment.

      • 10 month Contract, Set up by & First Payment due date is June 1

  • Meal Plan Designation Form – Due September 11
  • Health Insurance Waiver – Due September 30
  • Student Work-Study Responsibility Agreement – Due September 30

Health and Athletic Requirements Forms

  • Physical Examination Form – Due August 1
    • Requires completion by a Health Care Provider (physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant)
  •  Health History Record – Due August 1
  •  Immunization Record – Due August 1
    • Requires completion by a Health Care Provider (physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant)
    • You must collect all your immunization records if your current Health Care Provider does not have records of them
  •  Personal Data Form – Due August 1
  •  Pre-Participation Sports Questionnaire – Due August 1
    • Requires completion by a Health Care Provider (physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant)
       

Academic Forms

  • Transfer Appointment Form
    • Please complete the form with your most current information. There are 4 advising dates available where you will either come to the Whittier College campus to meet with a summer transfer advisor or speak with the summer transfer advisor over the phone to schedule your classes for the Fall 2013 semester.
  • Liberal Education Requirements
    • An explanation of the Liberal Education Program and recommendations of how to fulfill these requirements.
  • Indicate your Major
    • You will officially declare a major on campus by completing the major declaration paper work, however, please indicate your intended major prior to course registration. Due prior to registration.
  • Tutorial on Using Online Schedule of Classes
    • Although you will be selecting courses with a transfer advisor, this tutorial provides an explanation of how to use and search for classes.
  • Tutorial on Course Registration
    • Although you will be registering for courses with a transfer advisor, this tutorial provides an explanation of how to add, drop, and waitlist yourself for your courses.
  • Class Planner Worksheet       
    • A useful tool that helps you to schedule courses to your liking and avoid time conflicts. Print out for your use.
  • Math Placement Test
    • Do not use textbooks or any other study material while taking this test. The 90-minute assessment will indicate which math course you will be allowed to enroll into. Testing into a more advanced math course does not waive your Quantitative Reasoning requirement. Highly recommended prior to registration.
  • Language Placement Test Guidelines
    • Instructions and recommendation based on the outcomes of you Language Placement Test Score.
  • Language Placement Test
    • Please do not use textbooks or any other study material while taking this test. The test will assess which language level will be appropriate for you to take. Highly recommended prior to registration.
  • Summer Reading
    • Required reading for all incoming students.
