General Information
Whittier College provides a number of services for students registered with the Office of Disability Services. (Please refer to the Disability Services Handbook for more information and specific policies.)
The Disability Services staff is committed to:
- Provide both curricular and non-curricular accommodations. (Academic accommodations, access to assistive technology, housing accommodations, books on tape/CD, text in electronic form.)
- Provide students with disabilities, particularly with psychological/psychiatric conditions, with academic counseling and supportive education services (SES).(Time management, organization/planning, interpersonal skills, stress/anxiety management.)
- Provide students with academic support and help develop self-advocacy skills.
- Help students with professional referrals, community resources, and disability resources.
- Help students with disabilities maintain active enrollment at Whittier College.
- Coordinate with other offices and faculty to ensure adequate provision of services.
- Assist students by facilitating leaves of absence, if necessary.
