OUR MISSION AND GOAL
Disability Services is committed to ensuring equal treatment, educational opportunity, academic freedom, and human dignity for students with learning, physical/medical, and psychological/psychiatric disabilities. Disability Services is committed to providing reasonable and appropriate accommodations to students with disabilities, assisting students with disabilities in self-advocacy, assisting graduating students transition out of Whittier College, providing academic support and counseling, educating the Whittier College community about disabilities and services provided, and by ensuring legal compliance with state and federal disability laws*.
Whittier College is dedicated to providing students with learning, physical/medical, and psychological/psychiatric disabilities access to the programs, services, and activities at Whittier College as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (1990) and by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (1973). Section 504 states: "No otherwise qualified individual shall, solely by reason of his or her disability, be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance."
