Admission & Aid
Scholarships
Whittier College annually awards a number of scholarships to students, including those given on criteria of academic merit, talent in the performing arts, international citizenship, year of entry, and other designations.
ENDOWED/RESTRICTED SCHOLARSHIPS
Annually, several students will receive a private, named scholarship, benefiting from one of the College's generous donors; those students selected for this honor will be notified in their aid award letter. Students accepting a private scholarship from an individual or an organization are required to attend the Annual Salute to Scholarship Luncheon, fill out an online Scholarship Recipient Profile, and provide a written thank you to the contributor who has made the scholarship possible.
JOHN GREENLEAF WHITTIER ACADEMIC MERIT SCHOLARSHIP
Each fall, Whittier hosts a special, invitation-only Honors Weekend for outstanding high school seniors. During the intensive three-day program, students compete for the prestigious John Greenleaf Whittier Academic Merit Scholarship awards, valued up to full tuition.
To qualify for the competition, the entering student must have a minimum 3.5 GPA, and SAT 1 scores of 1200 or above (or ACT scores of 27 or above). To enter, submit a completed application for admission and supporting documents to Whittier College's Office of Admission. Qualifying competitors will be notified by the Office of Financial Aid in the weeks prior to the Honors Weekend event.
