Make a Successful Transition

At Whittier we make a special effort to facilitate an easy transition to college life, and Orientation is a chance to blend the fun with the factual.

During this yearly tradition, all new students spend four days (prior to the start of the school year) getting to know fellow classmates while learning important information that will make their Whittier experience successful. Many students point to Orientation as one of their most enjoyable times at Whittier, a chance to learn about new opportunities while making new friends who share the same interests and ideals.

Our commitment to helping students bridge the gap between high school and college is not limited to our Orientation though. At Whittier, students are drawn into a well-developed program which we call the “First Year Experience,” a time when mentors and peer advisors help students grow to fit their new environment, while creative living arrangements help students lay the foundations for lifelong friendships and strong learning skills.
