Festivals & Competitions

The Whittier College Music Department offers two annual music festivals.  The primary mission of these festivals is to enhance the educational experience of our students by bringing to campus performances of music that are not readily available at other local venues. Recent fall festivals have focused on Chinese folk music, Latin Jazz, Renaissance music and contemporary classical chamber music.  Our spring festival focuses on the music of J.S. Bach as we continue to offer one of the nation’s longest running annual Bach festivals.  Here too, we bring a special emphasis to support our educational mission.  Past foci have included women who affected Bach’s musical compositions, and the influence of Bach’s music in Latin America.
