Honors & Awards

Honoring student academic achievements is among the most important things Whittier College does. From national honor societies to the Dean's List, to Latin honors or distinction-in-the-major recognized during Commencement, we take pride in and recognize academic achievement.

Currently, Whittier operates local chapters of 18 national honorary academic and leadership societies, and, in 2007, received the Premier Octavio Paz—the highest award given by Spanish honor society Sigma Delta Pi—for three consecutive years of outstanding service and activities. In addition, Whittier College annually awards nearly 60 honors for outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and service to the community.

Whittier students have successfully pursued national grants and fellowships, as well. Four Whittier graduates have earned a Rhodes Scholarship, two were named Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellows, and several have become Fulbright awardees.
