Message from the Chair

Welcome to the Department of Chemistry at Whittier College! Here, you will find a dynamic group of scholars—both faculty and students—whose interests in the field of chemistry and biochemistry are broad and connect with many other fields, and who have a strong foundational knowledge and a passion for conducting cutting-edge research.

Students in our program will be encouraged to develop their ideas and test their theories through personal projects as well as a number of applied research opportunities, some of which are hosted by our own departmental faculty. Among the graduates of our program are doctors, lawyers, forensic scientists, public health officials, biomedical and biotechnological researchers, and genetic counselors, to name a few.
