Clubs & Organizations

Students with interest in chemistry, biochemistry, and the sciences in general may be interested in joining clubs related to the field. Two current options include Club Chemistry, which is also supported through the department, and the independent organization Students for Community Medicine.

CLUB CHEMISTRY

Whittier's Club Chemistry is open to all students who have an interest in chemistry. Our mission is to provide a means for chemistry students who are at differing places in their academic careers to interact with one another through various social activities, field trips, service events, and through arranging speakers to share their experiences with the club.

The following list of activities is a partial description of a wide range of events that the club has organized during the last few years:

  • Chemistry demonstrations at local elementary, junior high, and senior high schools
  • Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream Social
  • Los Angeles Police Department Crime Lab visit
  • Guest speakers in the field

How to Join

Club Chemistry is open to all students. If you are interested in joining, you can contact any of the officers or come to one of the meetings. Signs noting the date/time for each meeting are posted in the Science Building hallways. You can also become a student affiliate of the American Chemical Society. This is inexpensive and provides you with lots of resources concerning jobs and internships. Click here to find out more about becoming an ACS student affiliate.
