Cultural Center

Whittier College has long been at the forefront of diversity and multiculturalism in Southern California’s educational environment, and our Cultural Center is a vital (and widely celebrated) part of the campus community.

Offering a wide variety of opportunities for increasing cultural interaction and dialogue at Whittier, the Cultural Center supports all students of color by providing services that help to develop career and educational goals.

Our services include:

  • Providing meaningful programs - academic, social, and vocational - that educate, celebrate, and honor the diversity of the student body
  • Collaborating with faculty to develop resources that complement the curriculum and promote cultural understanding and appreciation of diverse identities
  • Overseeing cultural, ethnic, LGBTQIA, and gender-focused student organizations, as well faith and spiritual student groups through the Office of Interfaith Programs
  • Assisting students in adjusting to college life through peer mentorship and leadership development programs

Additionally, our Ortiz Programs, formerly coordinated through the Center for Mexican American Affairs and named after its founder Martin Ortiz '48, seek to expand knowledge and awareness of the Latino culture and provide academic and career resources, financial aid guidance, and emotional support to primarily first-generation Latino students.

We invite you to learn more about us and join us in celebrating the cultural richness of Whittier College.
