Events & Programs

Students at football gameThrough its different programming branches, LEAP is responsible for many of the student-centered activities at Whittier, from outdoor movie nights and traditional special events to off-campus volunteer experiences and excursions throughout Southern California.

Campus events and experiences are open to ALL students but some events are especially planned with commuter students in mind.

Excursions

Through its Excursions Program, LEAP partners with offices across campus to provide opportunities for Whittier College students to experience amusement parks, professional sporting events, theater and the performing arts, as well as other landmarks Southern California has to offer. Excursions are usually provided at minimal to no cost to students, but often require a refundable deposit to hold a reservation.

Past Excursions Have Included

  • Explore LA: (Travel to LA Live via Metro, Visit Santa Monica Beach / 3rd Street Promenade, & Splash! Water Park in La Mirada)
  • Professional Athletic Games (Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, & Los Angeles Clippers)
  • Amusement Parks (Disneyland Park, Downtown Disney, Knott's Scary Farm, & Universal City Walk)
  • Performing Arts (Wicked, Book of Mormon, Lion King, Shakespeare's Hamlet, & Shakespeare's The Tempest)

Community Building

Be part of something bigger than yourself! Each semester, LEAP provides opportunities for students to take part in blood and bone marrow drives, donate food and toys goods to a local families in need, or make a difference in the community through service initiatives.

  • Wednesday, October 5 - Bone Marrow Registration
  • Wednesday, November 16 - Blood Drive
  • Wednesday, November 16 - Friday, December 16 - Toy & Can Food Drive benefiting the Interfaith Food Center 
  • Thursday, March 9 - Blood Drive

SportsFest

Get to know your fellow poets at SportsFest Competition, Whittier College's annual two-day competition full of fun and rivalry. Bring your skills, as serious bragging rights are always up for grabs. Competition includes more than just sports. There is something for everyone.

ASWC Program Board Events

Program Board hosts annual events that keep traditions alive and strong at Whittier such as Welcome Week, the DubSync lip sync competition, and the crowning of Mr. & Ms. Whittier. Thanks to ASWC, there is always something to do at Whittier.
