After Whittier

Whittier College’s Physics and Astronomy majors graduate with a wide variety of opportunities before them. Recent alumni are completing advanced degrees at institutions that include Cornell University, Stanford University, Columbia University, California State University, UCLA, USC, and Boston University.

Graduates who enter the professional arena have taken jobs in teaching, biotechnology, software contracting, consulting companies, and engineering.

“Currently I work at Cree Inc. as a Process Development Engineer. The main part of my job is to improve the performance of LED Devices by using better wafer fabrication techniques. Whittier College gave me a good foundation in physics. I was able to build on that foundation during my graduate school and also during my career.” Read more.

"I came from a mathematics high school in Bulgaria, and I liked science. On the other hand, I was also always passionate about art.  While I was growing up, following that passion was discouraged by my parents, simply because it was tough to become a successful artist in Bulgaria. When I arrived at Whittier I considered both, and I even took few art classes. However, the math and physics departments were especially inviting to me.
