Art & Art History

By pursuing an art major at Whittier College, you will find yourself in the midst of one of the most vital art centers in the world – Los Angeles.

The major in art offers three tracks: Studio Art, Art History, and Art & Art History. The studio art track focuses upon the creation of artworks: drawings, paintings, prints, sculptures, ceramic pieces, photographs and videos. Art history is the study of art objects and their relationship to culture. Students who pursue an Art & Art History degree are offered balanced insight into both studio art and art history. Courses offer students the opportunity to visit a wide variety of museums to enjoy some of the most acclaimed art collections in the country.

A degree in art can lead to graduate study or to a career in a wide variety of art-related fields.
